From what I have been reading on these sites,Ottawa sheriff dept wanted the state to close the public ramps in the county. The state controls all the public ramps so they kept them open. The state then decided to stop selling out of state fishing and hunting licences.I believe Ottawa county officials were worried about an influx of people coming from Michigan, since their governor has prohibited the use of all motorized watercraft.Looks like officials are enforcing the nonessential travel and quarantine restrictions the state has mandated for out of staters.

Here is a question...
I’ve recently been tested for Covid-19, fortunately test came back negative. I can get a letter from Dr. to verify. Have quarantined in NE Indiana for over 1 months now. Fished out of Mazuriks earlier this year with no problem from ODNR.
I have out of state (Indiana)valid Ohio fishing license. How do they prove you have quarantined 14 days in Ohio? Can an Ohio fisherman with virus launch from Mazuriks with no problem?
I understand the seriousness of virus, but to be fair to all anglers, close State ramps all together instead of making exceptions that are about as unfair as you can get.
Politics and fishing never mix. I was born in Springfield Ohio, where DeWine is from. I know him well from years of his politics. I posted recently about my experience at launching from Mazuriks, went very smooth.
So question, when will all this end???Lund 1875 Sport Tyee

Herkimer I feel your pain. I also have a non resident Ohio license and would love to be fishing but to answer your question it will end when it ends. I understand you are ordered to stay at home by your governor so why would be upset about Ohio rules, you shouldn't be traveling to Ohio. I understand the complaints about I don't need gas or bait or food but it says stay home and Ohio does not want us at the present time. I am 2 miles from the PA Ohio line buy groceries, gas and fish Ohio waters all summer but for now I am following the rules fishing is not a life or death situation. Have a good day and stay safe.

Eire being closed for out of staters is wrong and is very prejudice
What Ohio is doing makes no scene at all letting residents fish in one of the great lakes which is federal water in the first place and and turning away out of staters is a valuations of everyone's rights of the U.S. constitution. You can not leave fishing open to residents only this is just complete ******** and so is this corona-virus which is simply nothing but the flu! Again you have the Media throwing everything out of proportion wake up America get a grip on reality.

Yep I totally get it especially the part about calling people jackasses for wanting to go fishing when they are of no risk to anyone else and then question why they can’t. Just because there is an order does not mean you have to agree with it, nor is it necessarily Correct. I don’t, but I will still comply, and have been. I just don’t like it when people are judged, negatively, for legit criticism of policies.

You guys are beating this stay at home order to death. 1st all surrounding states have a stay at home order. Ohio's includes if you come into Ohio you must quarantine for 14 days plain and simple. I know most of us could travel safely but then there are the ones who won't or don't care. If you want to protest that is your right but only if it is done safely if not you are possibly endangering others lives and that is not a right.

Again, you are spreading misinformation. The order from the ohio governor does not say you "must" quarantine when coming from out of state, it says you "should" quarantine. Ohio has a Republican governor and therefore is closer to the constitutionalist side. He is being as guarded as possible with telling us what we can and can't do as citizens. That is why in none of his "orders" does it prohibit church gatherings, protests, freedom of speech, etc.
