Guys I have never been to Erie before. I am coming from the South Bend Indiana area. Please correct me when I am wrong. At what point this fall will the walleye come near shore to feed fast and furious? I have an 18 foot tracker but going way out makes me nervous. I want to get out this fall as soon as fish come near shore. I need a tutor...

We fished only 3mi out from Vermillion this weekend- very protected from wind and waves. Hit 4 man limits in 4 hours both Sat and Sun.

Perch have traditionally moved in closer to shore in the fall, but not so much the walleye. The walleye are closer to shore in the spring than now.The walleye do move up in water column as the water cools and move up onto some reefs. We have caught walleye trolling a few miles off Huron in the past though. They also catch walleye fairly close to shore in November and December. But those months can have a lot of windy weather.Have to pick your days carefully and fish on light southerly days.

I was there too on Saturday. Did great also. Went back again at daybreak on Sunday and no one was there. Had a couple 8’ rollers hit us and said to hell with it.
