Water dog, a die hard perch fisherman, must be too depressed to post about the worst perch season in memory. They have been catching limits in Conneaut though. Some guys are still hoping as the water cools that the perch bite may still fire up.Hope all is well with the big dog.

Went to Conneaut last Friday
2 of us fishing, 27 fish
Very slow and moved about 5 or 6 times , never found any large schools to sit on
The ones we caught averaged 12"

Read some reports on OGF about catching perch but not much info on exact location.Saw a picture of a cooler full from a four man limit Sept 3rd that had live shiners to use.

AWOL ~ Water Dog
July, the hottest on record for some time, so the weather reporters say and my electric bill. The western end big bloom and the NE winds (1-3 foot waves , but really 2-4). When I have been able to get out, I was catching sheep head (up and down) like the yellow perch should be doing. The high water levels, and Port Clinton flooding, required boots to get to the boat at times.
So many factors this year it is hard to pin a reason for the change. Last year July really was great for yellow perch.
However, the walleye fishing was good this year, when I could get out.
Anyway, all is good and expect to be back at it. Hopefully the cooler nights will start the yellow gold migration (walleye too), in numbers, back to the western basin.
Be safe.
