July, the hottest on record for some time, so the weather reporters say and my electric bill. The western end big bloom and the NE winds (1-3 foot waves , but really 2-4). When I have been able to get out, I was catching sheep head (up and down) like the yellow perch should be doing. The high water levels, and Port Clinton flooding, required boots to get to the boat at times.

So many factors this year it is hard to pin a reason for the change. Last year July really was great for yellow perch.

However, the walleye fishing was good this year, when I could get out.

Anyway, all is good and expect to be back at it. Hopefully the cooler nights will start the yellow gold migration (walleye too), in numbers, back to the western basin.

Be safe.
