Easy pickens on the east side
So today myself and regular fishing buddy decided to run back up to where we fished last Sunday, but on the way up I kept seeing quite a few marks on the screen, so I dropped off plane to just above trolling speed for a better look and the screen was loaded with marks at 24ft down. From last weekends results, we had earlier decided that we'd run all larger sized stinger spoons as it seemed to reduce the junk fish catch rate. We set them at 55-60 fb with jet 40s at 2.7 and got 6 keepers in the first 20 minute pass, pulled our gear and ran back down for 1 more pass to get our other 6, 4 sheep, no bass, and about 7 shorts... took an hour and 45 minutes, which seems to be about average lately for 4 rods and back on the trailer by 9:30. The hot color today was Golden Melon and something...Parrot at a close second.

There are lots of walleye in the Lake. From South Bass Island State Park I doubt you really need to go as far as east of Kelleys Island. I'd either head N from the Park and fish the deep waters off North Bass Island's west shoal, scout and fish out there, or head around the North side of South Bass and head out NE of Middle Bass Island's long point out near the border, and scout / fish there. You are looking for clearer deeper water in the "travel lane" from the mouth of the Detroit river east to the Central Basin. These two areas are in that lane. You ought to be able to find at least decent to good numbers of walleye at these two places in August. Just because you aren't hearing reports from these areas doesn't mean there aren't walleye there. More likely that because of the distance from the mainland, few people are traveling that far. From Port Clinton east you can get to the east side of Kelleys in less time or the same. So that's were people go, because they heard the reports.

moved east a little bit
Left out of Mazurik's and got to our spot about 7:10 and within 2 minutes we had a triple going. Running fast again today around 2.9 and 55bk, we only did one long pass trolling NE and we had our 18 in the box by 8:30.
