I think you are the first person to say you like using the stern planers in some time. I really think they are an effective tool to use in addition to the side planers.

When running a lot of lines it gives you a nice option to run two additional lines without getting tangled without running big boards. When precision trolling very slow i like them a lot. I use them regularly in the spring and late fall. They recently made a video using the Garmin panoptix pointed forward in a great lake. It marked walleye at 10' deep ahead of the boat and then the chirp sonar showed the fish move to 25' deep when the boat went over them. this proves the reason why stern planers work effectively. they can be difficult to read and you have to pay attention to the rod tip but i like them.
