Favorite fish cleaners
Be interested in hear who everyone uses to get their perch cleaned.
I've been using Curlys for years with very little clean needed after getting fish back. This is the cleaners at brands dry dock. It's nice I can drop them off on the way in, eat lunch go pick up.
They are under new owners this year so dont know if the name stayed the same or not, but this weekend I dropped my 30 perch to be cleaned. 1.50 per pound, they asked how I wanted them, I said I prefer butterflied.......they quickly asked for a 5 dollar tip to do this. Even though the sign reads 1.50 per pound for cleaning this way.
When I got them home to wash and bag I always check each fish.......well I had to doctor all 30, scales left, fins still on, lots of bones, anuses and guts left on, even had 4 where I lost half a fillet, cut marks all through the meat.
Needless to say I won't be using them ever again. Had a walleye cleaned this spring, just didn't want to get everything dirty for 1 fish, they asked for a 5 dollar tip to zipper my 1 fish. They didn't get a tip either time.First mate for Eyehunter Charters

I go to Marblehead fish cleaning on Rt 269 near Fort Firelands and next to the police station. They are usually pretty good. One thing i notice about fish cleaning places, they are usually drinking beer. Could this be the reason scales are left, and fins and guts are still there? I don't know.

It is nice to drop off on the way through town. I think I will try pc fish next time out. I know that cutchers and bays edge does good work, but they are both a 15 or 20 min drive each way. But if the service is good it's worth it.
Billy can you just pull up and drop off at PC fish on the way back in?Last edited by branhamautomotive; 08-03-2018 at 07:46 AM.

Lucky I have notice that as well at other cleaning places and when I do I dont go back, it's not that hard to have a drink till after done working.
Maybe others have not had the bad experience I had, but if so let us know so others don't waste their money of fish by going to a place that can't completely clean fishLast edited by branhamautomotive; 08-03-2018 at 08:45 AM.

Butch and Denny's does a great job if you're near Anchor Point.

I have taken fish to Curly and the new owners for the past 4 years. I have had no issues with any of the fish i have had cleaned there.
I have taken 386 pounds of walleye and 125 pound of perch To Brands so far this year from 12 lake trips in 2018. Going Sat and Sun this weekend to try and find some Perch.
They always clean them the way i want and they always ask me how i want them cleaned. I have never been asked for a tip but on occasion when they got them cleaned in a timely fashion i have tipped them. I like my perch skins to be removed and they have done this at no extra cost.
I have never seen and open container of beer only the Monster energy drinks. The only complaint i have ever had is how long it takes to get them done but that is if i am late getting back to the dock and the cleaners and have 20 people ahead of me. I have a 2.5 hr drive to the lake.
Hope this helps and thanks to everyone who post on here it helps me learn a lot and make informed decisions.

I have no issue tipping for good service, but I've been there twice this year and both times they have asked for a tip b4 even getting my fish scaled in.
Having a tipped based job myself I understand. But I have never asked for tip, and never expect it b4 service is provided.First mate for Eyehunter Charters

We have our perch cleaned at Port Clinton fish house. They do a pretty good job. No complaints here. Usually when we come in we would stop by and drop the perch off. By the time we go and put the boat away for the day. Then drive back the perch are usually done. The only thing if you get in before the headboard get in from the Warf you will usually get your fish the same day. If not you will have to pick them up the next day. All and all like I said never have a problem with them.
