I have a trip planned for this week Thursday to Sunday out of Catawba Island, staying at beach Cliff Lodge.. The weather looks to be warming up, but winds are coming too. I have fished lake Michigan a lot and know how to play the winds. I have only fished Lake Erie once before and dealt with stiff NE winds and got some fishing in, but concerned for this weeks forecast If boat size helps at all... I have 2250 Crestliner
Any help on winds in general for Lake Erie and opinions of cancelling for this week would be helpful.

Check out Windsurf.com for Marblehead. If you in the reef complex you might be ok Fri. Sunday looks great. Remember one thing... this IS Ohio. Good luck and report back if you go.

I am assuming that Southwinds will be beneficial and a little bit more easy to deal with then north west or north winds.
I am a big fan of the sailflow website / app. I've been using it to help predict forecast for Lake Michigan

You would be correct. Any MPH of north winds can make for a crappy day when it's still this cold, plus the waves have a lot of room to build.

Too bad you are not fishing today, light winds.I use iwindsurf for erie wind forcast. You have a 22.5ft boat.Does not look so good for Thursday right now and for the remaining 3 days, forcast changes too much to make plans.Keep your eye on the Iwindsurf erie west location to make your plans.

Thanks for the responses...
If we are not fishing, what else is there to do on Catawba Island?

If the winds are too bad you can always smallmouth fish in the protected shorelines South of the Catawba Ramp. We used to catch some nice smallmouth in that area.

We see a lot of boats casting for bass in the channel in West harbor.Think also good time to catch crappie, but I'm not sure where you would fish for them.
