Tried working from Kellys Island to Ballast Island today, 28-38 FOW. Two of us in the boat, 6 hours, we got:

4 yellow perch, all in the 8-9" range
1 small white perch
1 12" walleye that hit the perch rig
1 large, bulbous barnyard reject sheephead that measured in at 26". These are a pain to catch on walleye tackle, but I have to admit, catching one on a small perch hook with 6 lb line and an ultralight reel was kind of fun, and a challenge of sorts.

Also lost 2-3 fish lifting them into the boat. It happens.

Other boats in the area seemed to be having similar luck... saw some perch pulled in, but no one was tearing them up.

It would appear folks fishing north of Port Clinton were doing a lot better... just food for thought.

There WAS various stuff on the fish finder, both near the bottom and about 7-8 feet off the bottom; I reckon that there were some THERE, just not hungry.
