I have an 1989 Thompson Fisherman 210 with 4.3 Alpha One Mercruiser. I did check stringers and transom. Put a new floor in it and all new upholstery when I bought it. It has been an outstanding boat. The 21 is plenty powerful enough, running 30+ on the Erie chop many times I have to back off. I have also done plenty of watersports behind it too when the family is with me. Just know what you're looking for condition wise, but Thompson's ride great on the lake. They also seem to be affordable.

They sit lower in the water allowing (most of the time) a perfect sideways to the wind drift in 15+ MPH winds. Better ride than a comparable Thompson. The 27 and 30fter Sportcraft drift great in a 20MPH wind. The lower sides are a better fit to drift fish using bouncers and casting (why charters use them). If your only trolling, the ride is better in the Sportcraft. The Thompson cabin area is nicer for family friends where you do not get that much area in the Sportcraft. More open area for fishing. Just depends on your wants/needs.
I can only hope I have earned the freedom that has been given me.

Jonk,
Mike's dockside tuned our Thompson 240 years ago and we have had no issue ever since. The old girl purr's at low speed!
