Small Mouth Chatter. Happy 4th
Hello all,
I am going to try my luck on the Small Mouth over the weekend. Has anyone heard any chatter they wish to share? Also that musky caught North of Kelly's made me dream of things to come..
Let me know if you have any input.
I wish you all a happy and safe July 4th weekend!

there is a very steep rise it the rock bottom at the very northeast corner of Kellys that goes from 25' to 15=10' very quickly about 30 yds. off the bank. It used to be really good for jigging smallies in May and June. That was back in the day of ten walleye limits. Also just about all of kellys shoal was good for them on the drops of either side. Seems the small mouth isn't what it used to be, but if I was going to target them that's as good a place as any. Even the north bay could be good. Good luck.

Not going to give away any of my 'honey holes' but here's a few suggestions.
The SMB are just off the spawn nest, so they shouldn't be too far from the nesting grounds. Any place with rocky bottom in 10-20 foot depth might hold some bass. Try around the Prince shipwreck about a mile straight east off the airport, in about 15-18 foot of water. It should be buoyed by M.A.S.T. Usually SMB around it but it is heavily fished. Long Point shoal is mostly flat bedrock, but you can find a few small drop offs along it, fish those. On the North side fish just off the NW corner, right up along the shore, good shore rock and boulders in there (might be too heavy boat wake this weekend). Next try the 'humps' west of Gull Island shoal, about a quarter mile west of it. That ought to keep you busy for a while.
