Kicker motor question
I have an Evinrude 9.9 4 cycle kicker mounted on the back of my Wellcraft 210 coastal with a 5.7 Merc i/o. My question is will the Evinrude kicker be able to draw fuel all the way from the main tank? Or do I need a tank for the kicker.
Thanks in advance Joe

I have a 9.9 Suzuki and have it plumbed it into the main fuel tank at the water separator filter. Your boat should have a water separator filter on the engine as I believe they are standard equipment on most Mercrusier Inboards and I/Os. There are two outlet ports on the filter head where the filter screws onto the filter assembly and only one is being used by the main engine. You can remove the brass plug on the unused outlet and plumb it to supply the kicker motor. It is a very simple straight forward connection to make and you should be able to do it yourself. You will still need the priming bulb in the fuel line some where to get it to start pulling fuel from the main tank as it has to pull the fuel uphill so to speak. Depending on what year you have it may be a Suzuki as Suzuki made the small 4 strokes for Evinrude for several years. The newer Evinrude Kickers are now made by Tohatsu. In any event you should be fine plumbing your kicker into the main fuel tank.

should be no problem. a lot of boats have built in fuel tanks and people run all type and size motors off them.

For saftey concerns you may want to put a shut off valve close to the fuel water separator. I installed mine right at the outlet on the mentioned filter assembly.
