Lowrance HDS 5 help
Hello, my hds reads a lot of clutter. I figured how to set it to not read the top 5 feet but i cant figure out how to not read all the extra stuff in the water. I just want to see fish and structure. I fish west lake erie no deeper than 30fow. Thanks to all that reply.

Does the unit show clutter when you are not moving? Try turning down the sensitivity setting. How old is your unit? My transducer took a crap after three seasons and showed a bunch of clutter. Replaced the ducer and it was fine. Lowrance had issues with ducers freezing during winter storage. Try putting your unit on another Lowrance transducer.
Good luck.

HDS5 help
I have the same unit...If you go into the Sonar settings, set it to "fresh water" as opposed to shallow water. It will help alot. Also there is an update for that unit. Check the Lowrance website for the free update. You will have to go back through and reset some of your preferences, but it does seem to read the bottom, while running, better.
