Not enough safe ice to warrant non-locals to start wondering out... I've seen some reports that the Sandusky Bay has some ice close to shore thick enough. Many locals fish less than 25-30' offshore for perch there.Originally Posted by fishnfunaddict

One guy tried to take a snowmobile out of Catawba I heard yesterday... He no longer has that snowmobile.
No, for the most part the ice on Lake Erie is not safe, nor really even formed yet. There is a slight crust of really thin ice in parts of the Western Basin. Most of it is all still open water.
