Nice catch, what were you using? spreader? bling? bait?
I have a scaler for the fish I give to friends and the one's that the wife wants are no skin. I clean my own fish saving $15 per trip. And you get more info on what's on the yellow perch menu.
And she likes walleye better, I like yellow gold better.
So, happy wife happy life.
Thanks for your update I will be out soon to G Can.
Tight Lines and be safe,

The weather has kept this dog on the porch!
Wind, Waves, Storms, HEAT! ALL of it.
Still plenty of time to fill the freezer once this settles down.

Historically, at what time of year (or at what temperature?) does the perch bite end?
From my experience I've gotten them in November as long as the weather allows it. But the walleye start making there way back west to shallow water as it cools they will chase and feed on them I believe that break's them up.
Late October well into November has been some of my best catches...weather permitting of course. On occasion I have been out in Dec and had good bites. From my experience's late fall has been great catches, just getting mother nature to cooperate is the biggest problem.
I have had some good catches in September and October. When the water starts to cool down they seem to turn on and you might catch a bonus walleye too. In the past I would keep my boat in to November 15, but the weather did not allow much fishing. So by the end of October this dogs feet are dry.
It looks like we are going to get a cool down next week, so back to G can.
Be safe,

So many home painting chores and yard work and I am sure you all have experienced that.
This season has been more than unusual , heat, winds & waves, have not aligned with my life. However, the porch has been kind to my but ox.
Anyway, the current storms may let this dog off the porch in 7 days, and with all the waves and wind the western basin will be a muddy mess.
So stay tuned this Dog will be back , hope to get one solid week of gold fishing before feet are dry.
Be safe and back soon,
~Water Dog
