First XBow deer, only 20 Minutes in the tree stand !!
20 yard shot with TenPoint Venom & Spitfire Mechanicals.
You can see the hit just below the left cam of the bow.
Instant blood, and the deer went 12 yards.
In this next picture, I'm standing right next to where the deer was standing when it was shot,
you can see my arrow (circled, bottom left) in the snow and leaves.
I could see the lighted knock from my stand, that was cool !!
I also circled where the deer fell 12 yards away...
It cut way down on the tracking !!
It was nice to be back in a stand for bow season.
After bowhunting for 31 years, I had to quit bow hunting 4 or 5 years ago for medical reasons (Very bad left elbow).
The first XBow season started yesterday, but it was a bad rain & snow day, so I stayed home for the opener.
Next Saturday I want to take my grandson, so he can experience hunting.
He's to young to shoot, but he's really excited to go and watch. When the cold winds blow and we're covered up in snow,
I’ll be on the ice a' Fishin’, down through a hole.
When the ice goes out and the days get hot
I’ll be out there a fishin’, in the same damn spot.

Kim and I hunted with a few of the guys from the Point Blank Outdoors Television show, we're field staffers for the show. We seen over 40 deer through out the day, a ton of bucks and most were chasing hard. The time is very near for the bucks to start making some fatal mistakes. We had a doe decoy set out and sprayed her down with some Kishel's Doe in estrus urine and the bucks went crazy stomping all around her snorting and grunting and carrying on.....it was a great show and made for some really great footage. Unfortunately the shooter bucks hung up too far out to shoot even with the crossbow. Right now is the time to start using some doe in estrus products. If anyone needs some Kishel Scents products get ahold of me @ 7167965372. Good luck and shoot straight and remember to strap in when you are in the stand!

November 11 ??????????
Before leaving for bowstand behind house at 3:30 PM it's 67.1 degrees, Even though it is a 5 minute walk, take jacket off and walk out in T-shirt. No deer activity for me tonight, but I was entertained by the diversified population of black, gray, fox, and red squirrels, in addition to one chipmunk that were feasting on the last of the acorns. Never seemed to cool down after sun went down, so off came the camo jacket and walked back to the house where its still 65.5 degrees. Well tomorrow we will be able to sing what should be the theme song for Western New York Weather - What A Difference A Day Makes.
