If you google "leadcore line rigging" there is lots of info. on "how to". also I am sure others here will chime in . Maybe pm Fishkiller he is the site guru! I myself use mono backer, lead core(different lengths= #'s of colors), then a mono lead to the lure. Also at least 27# leadcore. jmo

Yellow Pike, I have used lead core for years with excellent success. We use a "segmented" program, which consists of 20lb Berkley Big Game mono backer (at least 100 yds) then your specific amount of lead core (ie 2-10 colors) then we put 50-75 feet of 15lb Big Game mono on the front side for leader. Make sure you use a high quality ball bearing snap swivel or else you will have bad line twist when running harnesses, we use the Torpedo Diver #2 Ball Bearing Snap swivel which has a 55lb capacity. I can get you rods, reels, lead core, backer and the leader material. I can do the full setup ( Okuma classic pro rod, okuma classic level wind reel, Woodstock 27lb test lead core, and the Berkley big game leader and backer) for $105.00 plus tax. If you or anyone else have any questions or want to order any of the combos feel free to call me at 716-796-5372. Also we can change to a different combo for additional costs.

Our lead core set- ups
We use a full 10 colors on our reels which we have 4, then to get away from having 6 or 7 set ups if only needing a 5 color we half hitch a rubber band to our releases and lead core which won't hurt, and we use a #8 spro swivel which is rated at 50# and a 12#fluoro. Leader and a 9/16 duo snap at the business end, the #8 spro will fit through the eyes of your rod and will fit through the line guides on your reel, so you can reel the fish right up to the net. We use lead core a lot and this method you will have the exact amount of lead core you need with only 4 set ups.

Pap, Your catch rate will double if you stop running the lead core that way. What your doing is completely eliminating the action of the lead core line by running it that way. it cant freely move around in the water column.

Leadcore "System" Approach
I started using Leadcore about 5 years ago. I found that I couldn't afford to have decent quality reels laying idol when they had a specific length that wasn't in use. So I created a "Leadcore" storage system. A set of spools that I use to rotate through the season. I have photos if you want more info. I do special build them for about $40 each.
I actually carry it on the boat with me. A portable drill takes the 2 color off in about 30 seconds, leader and all. Then attach, the 5 color, from the spool and wind onto the reel. I have 8 reels (Penns) all line counters and I can configure them any way I need to, including wire for dipsey's.
I have a friend that has 30 reels with various lengths of leadcore. He can afford to use a $100 + reel for 2/4 weeks out of each year. I can't do that. My system works great and I can build it to hold 27 or 36# leadcore, in up to 20 colors (Salmon guys). Drop me a PM if you'd like pics or more info.
