Your best bait will be emerald shiners, there are places to net them. You can also buy some right at the bait shop in derby, it's not far from sturgeon point right on rt 5. Have you fished for perch on erie before? If you are fishing sturgeon get out at least a minimum 50 ft depth. If I were going out I think I would try 60 ft, first thing in the morning and use my fish finder to mark them on the bottom. If the lake was rough I may stick a little closer in the 52 ft range.

Yeah, I have been on the lake a few times this year for perch. Did well a few times but mainly fish for those eye's. Never fished for perch this time of year though. The kid loves eating those perch so he needs to help fill the pan too! He also likes the walleye, but we'll work him into that slowly. The kid loves fishin and has some big steelhead and browns under his belt off the piers in the fall & spring. The lake still looks good for friday so we should be out there. Better throw some trolling gear in boat just in case he decides he is ready for walleye....lol.
