Got minnows at ferry st.
Mostly pin heads. Bigger ones come in and out. Give yourself a few extra minutes to get your dip
was at foot of ferry around noon tons of bait nice size / but the problem i see orientals filling 4 5 gal buckets full pf emeralds no water just minnows/is'int there a law to restrict this // corridor rules / bait sales / wanton waste / maybe fishing license/ the guy running buckets back to the suv need a license ? / is the dec keeping a eye on this ? / i've seen enough bait taken to day to last all the perch fishermen on this end of erie the rest of the year.i have heard this is a every day thing at ferry.if we run out of emeralds its not because of fishermen dipping bait. if i needed to eat them so be it we also have a lot of rats:mad::mad::confused: will contact dec to see what they have to say
Joe I've seen the same thing down there. And they waste just as many as they take. Are they feeding them to people in a restaurant? If say anyone participating in the taking of fish must have a license. You can't go and help your buddy put on a deer drive without a license. They consider it an act of hunting even with no firearm.
Without having time to look into it, I would think that license or not, what you described and what they're using them for is probably illegal. There's a limit to private use or commercial. Has the DEC and Border Patrol been informed??? They may not even be residents.
Any news on perch fishing off Catt. Creek. I am heading Dow for the first time ever. Any tips would help.
Haven't been out all year due to some life issues that put a halt on my fish'n. Has anyone been finding perch in there travels for the eye's. Im taking the boat out for a run this afternoon since it's sat for a year. Thought I'd throw in a couple rods and fish a while if all runs well. Heard you all have been doing great on the eye's....I hope the perch are still in abundance as last year. Thanks and god fish'n
Caught one today, in 79fow out of the Catt...head approx. 300 deg until you get into 75-85 fow.
We marked a few "perch piles" right on the bottom off Dunkirk around 85-95 fow last Firday. (report better late than never)
