Taking a break from walleye - Salmon?
Too rough to fish comfortably today (August 17/11) out of Pt. Colborne.
We've been thinking seeking out salmon and steelhead on Erie for a change of pace. Has anyone got any advice (besides "don't bother!")? We're looking at the deep water over the Long Point escarpment as a prospect but it's a bit of a ride.

Im not sure about the salmon but I know the steelies are mixed in with the walleyes around the dunkirk area. I've caught them in the past dragging sticks for walleyes. Don't really know too much about those kinds of fish this time of the year.

Ok something I do pretty well at. First find them ha ha. If you have a good selection of spoons run anything bright orange pink and silver look online at a few I know there is one labeled steelhead candy and they love it. Bump your speed to 2.2 to 2.5 run your diggers just above them and make up a few sliders to put on also. As the temps cool they get closer to the surface and the boards are great. They like a temp around 60I degrees I have never fished erie for them but like Ontario. I have fished erie tribas and the runs are liken no other place I have seen. Take a look at www.lakeontariounited.com good reports and info I am sure will cross over. Good luck
