Went out of Grand River Saturday 6am-Noon. Trolled West from Fairport Harbor lighthouse past Mentor Lagoons. Water depth varied between 34' to 42'. Trolled stingers at 2.0-3.0mph on a combination of 30 jets, 40 jets, and dipsys. Lots and lots of junk fish (mostly white bass) but no walleye. From what I heard on the radio (Ch. 68), there wasn't much action in close or out farther (heard reports from 60' to 70').
Went out again 6pm - 10pm trolling east from Harbor to Perry. Very shallow water, mostly 20'-30'. Again, lots of white bass and some nice smallmouth, but no 'eyes.
Been a really slow year thus far, maybe the worst ever. I would love some info from someone who has a reliable program/location out of Mentor/Fairport.

Went out of the Lagoons due north Friday morning started in 68ft trolled east and did not catch anything until I reached 70ft caught 6 walleye and one steelhead. Trolled at 1.9 to 2.0 no trash fish at all.
Went out saturday evening in 69ft again. this time a little west of the Lagoons caught lots of white bass and two walleye.
I would keep east of the lagoons and use big stinger spoons off of planner boards
Good luck

Lagoons eyes
Also went out sat. The 16th lots of white bass... Fished due north of mentor lagoons in 67-71 ft. Alot of big marks around 67 still slow though. Picked up 3 eyes all about 67 ft. All on a northern troll, 2 off worms 1 on a stinger. Had some buddies of ours aboard another charter fishing in 71 picked up 8, which is horrible for them...wondering if the big schools have past already or have yet to come to Mentor. This weekend should be prime walleye fishing weather permitting.

Thanks for all the great info! I am hoping the schools are still moving east from the Gold Coast. It seems early to me for the 'eyes to be in such deep water, but it was an early Spring. I will be going out probably Saturday morning (weather permitting), so feel free to hit me up on Ch. 68 (First One's Out).

I'm catching Walleyes in 85-90 ft in the Eastern Basin already between the Pa. line and the Catt. Creek. We usually fish 35-50 now and 85-90 in mid to late July. It's messed up here also. I am also curious about the location of the western walleyes.

Saturday morning the lake was rough and I couldn't get out to the deep water. Sounded like the guys with bigger boats were doing well in 70'+

Went out to just west of the Nuke plant in Perry, had lines in by 6am... Rough morning battled 4-6ft seas picked up one in 68 ft of water around 7am w/a harness on a jet 40...no nice marks whatsoever. Moved back west off of Mentor to 72-75ft where we picked up 1 more. Virtually no marks out there. Thinking the schools have gone east already. Might be time to pickup tje perch rods, unless we decide to head east to Geneva. Perch reports off the hump were excellent. Longest trip off the year and the least fish (12hrs, 2 fish)

Ditto Wet Net - same day, same spot, same results. We must have both been in the same pack of boats. We got our first FishOhio 'eye of the season, and lost another monster right next to the boat (took my jet and spoon, too) but other than that it was all junk fish. Trying again this weekend
