Ashtabula Walleye July 7th Report
Well a new year of Walleye fishing started for wife and I this past Thursday. We went out of Ashtabula's Lake Shore Park around 7am and with the wind coming out of the NE, it made for a bumpy ride out. Went out about 6 miles and set up with 4 poles, wire line and dipsy divers. Using 4 of the large dipsy divers with outside two set on 3.5 and inside two set on 1.5 we got our lines out trolling a mixture of worm harnesses and spoons. Caught two nice eyes right away and thought to myself, wow, this is gonna be great. Went about 2 hours until we picked up the next one, another hour and another eye. Ended up with five very nice walleye in the live well when we decided to quit. It was a slow day fishing from 7am til 3pm but five nice fish equalled four big bags of filets in the freezer. Oh yeah, ended up about 10 miles NW of lighthouse and remember seeing the 03 line on gps. I will try to write down numbers better for next reports.
OK guys, let's use this board for our fishing reports and share our info and make 2011 a great walleye and perch fishing year.
