    Default Geneva 8/23

Headed north out of the marina to 72FOW. Trolled North with big boards and 3 ounce snaps with Bandits, Flicker minnows and Husky Jerks out to 270, 255 and 240 feet total. 3 man limit by 10:00. Mostly 19-21 inchers with a few 24 mixed in. Chrome Bandits were hot today and anything with a flash like the slick colored flicker minnows. All tolled we probably caught 30+ eyes. Threw back anything under 19 inches cause the bite was hot and we could be selective. Trolled out to the 03 line and we were done for the day. Had to throw 5 back cause we were hooked up clearing lines at the end of the day. Perfect day on the lake.

Nice work Sir! I got out late and didn't do much for a couple hours. Found them up by the line and from 11:30-1 got 12. They just showed up all over the place where they weren't earlier.

All colors worked. Will go out today but we're sleeping in . I may not get a parking spot at Ashtabula so if not...I'll try Geneva for the first time🙂

As always, thanks for the info and safe and good fishing!

Geneva has a huge parking lot and 6 ramps so you won’t have trouble launching there. Longest we ever waited to launch was about 10 minutes.

That is a lot of line out. Is there a chart for 3 once weights with crank baits. I have the precision app for 2 oz weights. I've seen a chart for trolling weights but not with cranks tied on.

Usually you can figure 10-11 feet per ounce. So if you’re figuring you’re running a certain depth say 37 feet at 175 feet of line out with a 2 oz weight. Then you should be around 47 feet with a 3oz at 175. Obviously your speed will factor in also. Yesterday we were running 2.0-2.2 mph on the gps. We figure we were running around 55-60’ down at that speed. Fish were 55-65 feet and we were hammering them. Remember you want to be above or equal to the fish you’re marking not below. From all I have read, walleye will go up to get your bait but rarely go down in depth to get it.
