Ashtabula Walleye 8-31-20
went out to 50 FOW started trolling 2.5 mph North
using bandits and 1 oz weight 250 feet back
got to 64 FOW landed first small 13 inch
there are no fish at all on fish finder all the way to 72 FOW
after 2 1/2 hours got to 73 FOW
saw 5 fish on screen all at 60 foot depth
slowed boat down to less than 1 mph
after 3 minutes hooked first keeper 21 inch
next 5 fish all caught at 73 FOW on bottom
I started trolling down wind then I would shut off motor and drift
I reeled off bottom and the fish were on after a few turns
I also tried trolling 2.5 at 73 FOW no bites
the fish were all on the bottom at 73 FOW
I was about 11 miles from boat ramp
unless you are going that far out it is not really worth going
there just are not any fish on fish finder until 73 FOW even then there are only a few
today there were steady 2 footers and heavy chop
by 3:30 3 and 4 footers started rolling in. some coming in were 5 footers
as far as a casual fishing trip on a small boat that is not a good idea
I got about 10 gallons of water in boat over last hour
I used bilge pump and it was all fine
hooked 7 walleye 6 keepers 18 to 21 inchLast edited by Doug Lewis; 09-02-2020 at 08:49 AM. Reason: misspelled word

Same for us out of Geneva so we made a couple trips out of Northeast Marina in PA. Same thing over there. We went from 50-110 FOW. Fish scattered here and there. Got 8 walleye in 2 trips! We were hoping to get a couple steelhead and lakers but that didn’t happen either. It was a beautiful afternoon on the lake yesterday tho. Lake was like glass over there so we still had a great time. Nice thing out of northeast is your in 50 FOW in less than a mile out. 100 feet in less than 3 miles. Heading back to Ohio next trip

Buddy and I launched out of Geneva yesterday. The lake was fantastic UNTIL we got about 5 miles out. We started marking fish at the N41.57 line and set up. We used P10s behind dipsys. 165 on the 3 setting and 135 on the 1. Got 7 really nice grade of fish before we packed it in at just about the N42.00 line. Waves were solid 4-5 footers. Windfinder and others just don't give an accurate account of the waves beyond 5 miles out. The Meclizine I took that day was certainly being tested. Long ride back in. At least we got to see exactly where the commercial perch nets were .
