    Default Northeast Marina

Heading up Friday morning for the first trip of the year. Has anyone gone fishing out of here this year? Called marina they said a few guys have gone out and picking up a few Walleyes in 15 to 30 Fow. I'll be posting report of my trip when I return Monday. Hopefully we can find them.

Here is the report from first trip. Water is still cold around 57 degrees. We caught 10 fish in two days. The fish are still scattered. We picked up most fish in 50 to 58 FOW. Ran worm harness & worm burners. Black & orange and fire tiger seemed to work the best. Caught fish 30 to 35 feet deep. We'll give it another shot in two weeks. Good luck.

Walleye season is on fire now. Headed out of Northeast Marina west up to w's trolled back to marina. Friday we had two man limit in two hours. Saturday we had two man limit in one hour and ten min. We caught one hog Friday 29" just over 7 Lb. and Saturday Two nice fish one at 26" and one at 28". Set up was the same both days. Two rods on #1 Dipsy divers set on 3 125' & 135' back. Two rods on #0 Dipsy divers set on one. One rod 120' back and the other 150' back. One rod on down rigger 35' down. We didn't get to run 6 rods had enough trouble trying to keep 5 rods in water. Good problem to have. We fished 50 to 60 FOW. Boat speed was 1.8 to 2.2 Mph. Hot colors black purple and silver combo, Fire tiger, and Blueberry Muffin. We used mix of Worm Burners and Michigan spoons.
On a sad note we also seen a horrible boat fire right outside of marina. The guy just filled up with gas and only made it about 75 yards out of marina when his boat caught fire. Thankfully he bailed out of boat and was ok. Be safe guy's and good luck.

Last report for this year. I pulled my boat out for the year. Things were a little slower this trip. We had to run backwards from the normal fishing program. Winds and waves Saturday 10/5/2019 were out of the east. We headed out of North East marina and went east to the New York line and trolled west down to the w"s. We ended up making two passes like this. Long Day. We fished 80 to 95 FOW. Two #1 Dipsys set on 3 165' and 175' back. Two #1 Dipsys set on 1 100' and 115' back. Down riggers 50' and 60' down. We did manage to get our two man limit. We fished from 7:30 Am to 4 Pm. All 12 fish were 20" to 22". Fat like footballs. We noticed when cleaning fish that they were stuffed with small fish. Some of them had 6 fish in them. We ran spoon and worm burners. Orange and black, Fire tiger, and silver and green. Nothing seemed to work any better than the other. I'll be back next year giving reports again. Good luck to all and be safe.
