Another Great Lorain Weekend
Fished Saturday and Sunday with GF and another couple.
Limits both days.
Saturday was a little rough, but the gf finally decided to use the sea sickness patches the doc prescribed. She hung in like a real trooper.
We limited out both days drifting and casting. We trolled for a bit on sunday when the wind completely died for about 2 hours. Was constant, but not as quick as it has been in past weeks.
Used crawler harnesses. I ended up tying a dozen harnesses up using 20 lb floro and the death roll hooks - since we kept breaking off the Death Roll harnesses the past few weeks.
Anything with yellow or gold outperformed every thing else.
we had a few 25+ inchers over the weekend, only 1 fish ohio this weekend. The rest were mostly 19 inch (with a half dozen shorts).
We caught more than our share of Fish Ohio Sheeps and 3 large cats. 2 were over 12 lbs and the third was right at 8lb.
It was another great weekend out on the lake. Limited fishing next weekend. Taking a trip to PIB with some friends.
On a side note, we caught another handful of nice perch this weekend. They only moved 1/4 mile from where we marked them 2 and 3 weeks ago. Bait balls are still around, but not as plentiful. The weekend after next, we will be targeting perch for a few weeks. Will provide updates and general area where we are getting them.

We had the same experience. No need to give out numbers or depths, head N to NNW out of the harbor towards all the boats.

We were out again last evening and only got 6 drifting in 2 hrs in 49 ft of water. There was very little wind/drift last night and we resorted to fan casting around the boat. All were caught on 10-15 count and near the surface. Some fish were breaking the water chasing the small hatch we got last night I am guessing.

I love that we can now say we 'only caught 6 in two hours of drifting'. After 20 years of thinking that was a decent drifting day for walleye, we feel unsuccessful now with a slow pick. Glad to be back to being able to drift! The best part is that drifters are catching bigger fish than most trollers are these days!
