Walleye fishing fairly consistent, perch scattered
Location: Boating out of Walnut
Time Observed: Thursday July 6, 2017
Water Conditions: 1 ft or less
Yesterday we had 2 limits of walleye by 9 am. Most were 15 1/2 to 18 inches. We did have 2 - 20" and 1- 24" We fished 52-61' FOW. Boats out deeper seemed to catch bigger fish. We ran 4 dipsies with worm harnesses, watermelon seemed to work the best. 3 1/2 setting 140' back, 1 1/4 setting 90' back. I ran downrigger 45' down and 45' back and caught one legal. Temperature at 45' down is about 4-5 degrees cooler than surface. Trolling 1.5-2.0 mph. Mostly straight out of Walnut and a bit west. Needed keep checking lines and taking short fish off. Also went perching from 11 am to 2pm. Caught 14 nice ones in 54' of water a little west of Walnut. One fisherman I know had over 35 perch from 8am - 11am at the same spot. The perch would come under the boat for a few minutes and then be gone.
