How many volts needed?
I just replaced my alternator in 1973 SeaRay Mercruiser 888. At Alternator I have 14.5 volts, at battery only 13.8. Is 13.8 enough to keep the batteries charged? Up front on dash the amp meter is receiving 14 volts. So could it be the longer the run the less volts reach?
Thanks24' Caravelle

Yes, the longer the wire the bigger the voltage drop. Your voltage looks good to me.

well you having alternator & it has 14.5 volts battery so I think it will be run very good ! You won't have any issue with alternator. You go ahead with it. 14.5 volts battery is enough for alternator.
THANKS !!!
