Autopilot for Merc I/O
This question is of similar subject as earlier thread. I am looking for options/opinions on autopilot for Merc I/O on a 240 Thompson.
Appreciate the feedback. I have learned a great deal on this site for the past 4 seasons. Thanks to all.

i have the raymarine smartpilot x-5r with the rudder sensor. its a head unit that fits under the steering wheel. it seems to work good but a little loud. i think raymarine has better models now. but you still might find the smartpilot if you shop around.

They have discontinued those a few years ago as have all the other manufacturers with the same type drive. Guys were trying to use them with kickers on boats with I/O's and once the main was off so was the power steering and they burned the motor's and gearing out of them. The best option now is to install a Octopus drive and autopilot core pack. It will run you between $2500 and $3,000.
