H Can

After a hunt for the Minnows this morning headed out to H Can. We arrived to find no other boats other than the Camp Perry Patrol Boat. Fished about 100 yards off the can to the east. Steady bite with very little junk fish. Using plan spreaders right on the bottom. Six or Seven double headers and ended up with 85 perch from around 8-12. this is the third time this year I have fished the same spot over the last couple of weeks and did well every time. Seems like every trip out the perch are getting a little bigger. Average size around 8"-9". Only caught a few that we had to throw back. Had about two scoops of minnows left over and I put them on a cookie sheet salted them and threw them in the freezer. (I'm sure the wife will be thrilled about that !). Last week had several perfect weather days was off work and couldn't find minnows.

Portage River in Port Clinton. Its only a couple mile run from the mouth of the river
