Do they stay on the hook pretty well? I think I'll try a mixture of salt and cornmeal to freeze them in. Thanks.

They seem to stay on the hook well. Keep them out of the sun because they will get muchy. I try to keep them cool (on ice) in the cooler and pull them out as needed.
I too heard with the lack of water clarity, the light isn't penetrating enough to draw the shiners to their nets. Hopefully with this continued dry and stable weather the water will clear and solve that problem. The high water will be with us for awhile. Assume it makes it easier for the little buggers to have more weeds and water to hide in back in the wetlands and creeks as well?
I don't think there is a lack of Emerald shiners in the lake, at least the Western Basin! Something has sure been holding the perch at D-Can thru H-Can area and reports indicate they are holding at other locations as well such as Niagara Reef, B-Can, Wards Canal, Water intake as well as others. Those perch would not be hanging around in those areas in concentration if there were a lack of prey(Emerald Shiners). There is one thing that does have me concerned and that is the lack of white perch and sheepshead, that is unusual for this time of year.
Read this tonight and hope it is true. If so I will gladly use the golden shiners maybe some fatheads also. Will have to monitor this to findout the facts! The first part of this thread is the important part.

how do I read I cant find it when I click on it
Are you using a mobile devise? If so push down/tap and hold on the link and then use the menue that pops up to open in a new window! or go to OGF and open the link for Emerald shiners. Magee East has posted some interesting stuff about YOY walleyes being so plentiful that the netters cannot keep their shiner catch due to possessing walleyes under 15".
I just checked the link from my desk top and it opened for me ok.
rscotfish, check your PM's.
thanks I guess I got it the first time I was to dumb to understand but got a call they have minnows around here I also bought a net to catch my own was bluegill and crappie fishing with grandkids and the shiners were all over right next to bank. thanks wakina
