    Just stay away from them and you should be fine. They are not as big as they seem but are dangerous. I believe differences in air and water temps cause them.

    we were trolling up on erie a few yrs ago and this dark cloud was coming towards us. we didn't think much about it as we had our top up and curtains up we wasn't worried about getting wet. then out of nowhere this waterspout came down about 100 yrds from us and was headed right for us. we did manage to get out of its way. but it was very scary. I think they are very neat as long as im looking at them from a few miles away, LOL.

    it was either this site or that other web site a guy had a go pro on his boat and he made a video of his boat driving through a water spout, he made it, he was going real fast.
