I've ate a few fresh and they were good, I've never froze them, some fish is ok fresh but not to good when frozen. I saw white perch for sale at giant eagle, whole fish with the head and guts removed for 5.99 a pound

My uncle and I saved them on saturday. His girlfriend is an asian woman and he freezes them whole straight from cooler. She prepares them somehow and he says they're pretty good. I don't see why they would taste a whole lot different than yellow. I myself prefer walleye over any fish.

Are the white perch in the same family as the yellow perch? I am under the impression that the white perch are a invasive species in Lake Erie.

No they are not. They are related to the white bass a European cousin I believe and they are an invasive species. The yellow perch believed it or not are related to the walleye. One official name for walleye is (yellow perch pike).

They say the first thing to go is the mind and my mind failed me on the origin of the white perch. So I guess I had a Lol moment! Thanks for the link.

The other walleye name is yellow pike-perch and not yellow perch pike. Close but no cigar for me in this thread. I think I should just retire for the evening!

Actually Wakina, I believe that walleye belongs to the perch family therefore making walleye related to yellow perch.
