I haven't been yet, but I'm dying to! Heard there was a good bite off the east side of Kelly's in 43' of water off the airport.

Also, Hi Way Bait said off the old loading dock on the west side of Kellys..."In close", he said.

That's all I know. Sorry I don't have more info for you.

I have always fished the lake for walleyes, but have wanted to throw in some perch equipment in the event that catch a limit early enough that I can go back and anchor over one of the schools of perch that I run over while trolling.

What do I need to get to have the perch bite covered to be able to do this? Do you have to use minnows or can you use hunks of crawlers? Also is it always spreaders with little blades on them or can I use a double drop shop rig? Any good standards to start with?

Just looking for a little advise for some starter stuff, for that just in case bite.

    Smile perch rigs

skipper nine rigs, two or three hooks, or as i do cut down to one bottom hook, or single hook rig with one bead like a lindy rig style on bottom with slack line. Capt mike and wayne Reel sport team

ive had some of my best perch fishing late april thur may one of my favorite areas is on the north side of kelleys between kelleys and gull shoal. If they are still milking hold them over the side until they are done then bring them aboard, it can really mess the boat up in a hurry and its hard to wash off.

As far as a rig goes I use a single hook with a bell sinker 1/2 to 1 oz I buy the tru-turn pre tied 2's or 4's hook it and the sinker to my swivel. I also run 15 pound power pro. I used to use spreaders, crappie rigs, skipper 9 rigs they all work just fine, I just prefer the single hook the best. it's basically like a skip9 rig but with only 1 hook.

I've never had luck with worms.. take shiners. Its better to waste a couple bucks if u don't use them then need them and not have them.
