Thread: Frozen Walleye

    Default Frozen Walleye

It has been a few years since I have been fishing up on Lake Erie. The last time I was up we had our fish cleaned at Butch and Dennys and I believe they sold Walleye caught from the lake there. Do they or other fish cleaners still sell Walleye? The reason I ask is both my parents (In their 80's and from Toledo) love walleye and I am thinking of making a trip next weekend so I can purchase some fish to send to them in Georgia. Thanks for any help!!!

Not sure where they got fish at the time but walleye can't be bought or sold lawfully if caught in ohio. I know pc fish house sells lake erie walleye but they have to buy it from Canada. I believe it's 5.50 per pound whole weight and close to 11 or 12 for fillets

    Default Kroger in Indy

They sell it at the seafood counter at Kroger on the north side of Indianapolis. Your screen name indicates you live in indiana so that migh be closer. It's not there 100% of the time but pretty often. However, I choose to never buy it because that supports the Canadians netting the same fish I want to catch on the Ohio side. In this case, I would do what you have to do to get them some walleye if this is your only option if its closer for u to come this way, PM me your number and I will let u know the next time I see it so u can come and get it.

I'm in Muncie and the local supermarkets here carry walleye also, I see it on ice in their cases and wonder how long it's been there. I think I am just going to have to wait til the charter captains get going and go fishing again. Hopefully bring home some eyes and next day air a couple to my parents in Georgia. Thanks for the replies and the PM's I have received.
