This weekend

I was thinking about going out of Catawaba or Crane this weekend. I was at Catawba on Tues and conditions were great for a quad. Does anyone know if the latest snow has been causing problems for guys on quads ? Also just a reminder cracks can open up anywhere any time. Came in Mon night at Catawba no problems. Went back out Tues morning and not far off the ramp a crack had opened about two feet wide. It would have easily been wide enough for a fisherman to fall through. With the cold temps skim ice forms quickly. If you have blowing snow covering it up it could be very dangerous. That same crack was closed completely up 6 hrs later when we went in. There was next to no wind that day and it was out of the NORTH. No idea how it opened up.

For the most part today there was only 2-3" of hard packed crunchy snow today and it wouldn't have been a problem, especially with chains. In places there were drifts but room to drive around them. That's as of this afternoon.
