    Default 8/18 Cedar Point Perch

Wasn't able to hit the water with my partner until 11:00 Sunday.
Couple miles North of the Cedar Point dumping grounds in 42 FOW.
Took 3-1/2 hours for two limits. 18 lbs at cleaners, 8 lbs of fillets. Not a bad day.
Only a few sheephead & white perch, and a few more small white bass pestered us.
Crappie rigs w/bling, 3 hooks. Worked best laid flat on the bottom then slowly raised.

I fished the same area Sunday morning 3 limits in 2 1/2 hours, 26 lbs at the cleaners. Slack line was the key, did not matter bling or no bling. Caught some of the biggest white bass i have seen!

White Bass are fun to catch when you want to catch 'em,
but the big ones will absolutely DESTROY a crappie rig !

Going Perching on Friday with a few buddies coming from Chicago. It sounds like the "dumping grounds" is the place to go. From the help from other people on the site they say 2.5 miles north of the cedar point break wall. Only looking by map that looks like due east from the marble head light house? Am i close...do y'all think there will be perch pack there on Friday?

East of the lighthouse is just about right for the dumping grounds.
Good mapping software will show it as well.
I don't know how many fish were taken right off that area Sunday.
I was fishing NNE of the dumping grounds in 42 FOW.
Here's a link to charts. Go to page 15:

    http://ocsdata.ncd.noaa.gov/BookletC...okletChart.pdf

On Sunday the "fleet" was scattered from the Dumping Grounds to several miles NNE.
By Sunday afternoon, I watched several head boats move west out of the pack, but they didn't leave the area.
No way to tell if they will still concentrated by Friday, but it shouldn't take long to find out.
These fish were easily spotted on sonar and the bite was steady, so it might still be a good place to start looking.
Check back on the forums or bait shops on Friday !
    Good Luck !
