Default 15 Sec Wind Data for 45165 Buoy off Monroe

Last week I created a custom weather station on weatherunderground.com just so that I could transmit 15 second wind speed and direction data from the 45165 buoy stationed about 6 miles southeast of Monroe. You can access data from this station by following the steps below

    1. navigate to weatherunderground.com
    2. Search for "luna pier, MI"
    3. Click the "Station Select" button right in the middle of the page
    4. Under the list that appears in the "Nearby Weather Stations" section select "45165 RapidFire (15 sec)"

You can also access data from the station by going to the station page on weatherunderground http://www.wunderground.com/weathers...p?ID=KMIMONRO7

The weather badge in the upper right will show the instantaneous wind speed.

A third way to access observations from this station is from the whole-page RapidFire display.

I will continue to monitor the battery usage of transimitting this high frequency data, but in the meantime let me know if its useful.

    Thanks,

    Ed

P.S. email me direclty if you'd like everhamme at limno.com as I don't get on this forum often

Wave heights are only reported every 10 minutes so there’s no need to show wave heights at a higher frequency. Its a limitation of the wave height sensor that the 10 minute calculation is done onboard the sensor and spit out every 10 min. Also changes in wave height occur over a period of many minutes to hours rather than seconds, so higher frequency observations for wave height woudn't show much change. Plus weatherunderground can’t display wave height data from personal weather stations.
