Default Best launch for fishing this weekend

Hello all. We're making the trip up to fish Saturday and Sunday and staying in PC. Last trip we just used the DNR ramp off of the Portage River, but I was wondering if there are any better ramps that will put us closer to where the fish are being caught. Are there any off of Catawba that may make for a shorter ride? I've read a lot of folks are running east of Kelley's, and that is a haul from PC, especially in our boat.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Catawba has a state launch on the east side 2/3 of the way up, not much of a sign so LOOK, it is pretty much a straight shot to South Bass. Mursick (not sure if I spelled that right) is another with a straight shot to Kellys.

Thanks for the info guys. I think we may try Catawba, definitely a shorter boat ride to where a lot of people have been saying they're catching fish. Has anyone used that ramp? It says they only have one, so is it in good shape and does it get busy?

    Thanks again.

There are 2 ramps but be careful to follow the one way signs.

if you are fishing east of kelleys, there is a free city ramp in huron with easy in and out and plenty of parking for the rig, holds a lot of spaces and never totally full. about a mile from the lake itself right on the huron river and 12 miles or so from east of kelleys......good luck

If your going east of Kelly's for walleye, Mazurik state park is your closest free ramp. It will be about 4-5 miles shorter then Catawba ramp.
