fish report friday 7-12-13

Plan was to troll this am out by turnaround buoy. Plans change i guess. My buddy dropped the clutch know for my planer reel not in the bottom of the boat, any guess as to where? So we changed gears, got out the casting rods and proceeded to catch 5 nice eyes and 4 throw backs in the first hour. I was pumped, then they shut down around 11. caught the fish on a 20 to 25 count gold weapons or silver weapons were the ticket.
At 1pm we decided to try the perch. Moved 4 mi south east to spot from last year. nothing doing... Moved toward gravel pit saw a boat fishing, and threw out the anchor. 4 of us caught 60 nice perch in 90 minutes. Quite a few white perch as well. Size was 8 inches and up. Biggest was 11.25. Quite a few over 10 inches. Some very nice fish. We were about 1/2 mi north of the gravel pit. 25 fow. spreaders, crappie rigs on bottom minnows cut in half. hit the bottom count to ten and lift. Fish were usually on. Did get a few doubles but not very many. 18 lbs at cleaners.

I haven't had a limit yet this year on perch. Can't wait til it's on and you get that day where you limit in no time.
By the way, where is the gravel pit ?
