    Default Tru-Trip Question

Been wondering about the leader side of the Tru-Trip divers. There a a few holes on it. To me, it doesn't seem like it would matter a whole lot how it affects the dive angle as to which hole the leader was in. I have always used the furthest back hole.
Anyone have thoughts or input on this one ?

Good question! I have been wandering the same thing. I use the middle holes since I couldn't decide which hole to run. Hope someone can answer this for us.

    Hey Guys,

Most anglers use the middle hole on the TRU-TRIP and I match my leader to my rod length. You do not have to put to much tension on the adjustment screw. The difference from one hole to the next is very little. Always glad to answer any questions. I try to answer everyone

I use the center hole can't answer why though as I have no particular reason!

Just to clear up a question that keeps popping up about Tru-Trip 40 deep divers and small boards. I pull them behind Church Tackle TX-22 in-line boards and have had no issues with them! I have also ran them behind the TX-44 Church boards which would handle the Tru-Trip 50's with ease, but you need a dipsy type rod to handle the hard pulling TX-44's and they are much harder to read than the TX-22 boards.

I fish Harnesses, spoons and the J7 Rapala's behind the TX-22 boards and Tru-Trip 40's at GPS speeds up to 2.5 mph (ground speed). I do think Tru-Trip40's pull harder than a Jet 40 but there is also at least 2 benefits to that.

They have a steeper dive curve (more depth sooner with shorter leads) and also the Tru-Trips makes the board squat in the rear some, enough that you can see it from the boat but does not interfere with the boards operation! The benefit to this squatting is that when a fish trips the diver the board will start pulling in a more level position making it easier to read the boards and determine if the diver has been tripped, once tripped the diver has to be reset small fish dragging along or not.

I have no personal experience with the Offshore brand of in-line boards so my comment should not be used to run them with the Offshore brand of boards and expect the same results!! That would be for someone else who already has or will experment with the divers and the Offshore Boards to determine and post their results.

Disclaimer:~~ I have no interest with Church Tackle of Bigfish Tuff Tackle companies in private or as a business associate and post this only as my personal experience with the products that I have mentioned in my post.

    Default Answer From Bigfish Tuff

The three holes in the TRU-TRIP where the leader attaches affects the depth. It mainly comes into play @ leads of 100ft or more. The difference is about 1ft to every 50ft of lead, the hole closest to the fin will dive deeper, the hole closest to the chamber will dive shallower. Most anglers use the middle hole

I have been running the tru trips behind offshore boards and the look is similar. Squatty in the back. I did notice that if you don't see a smaller white bass initially hit that it can be tough to tell your dragging him.

This was kinda my thought. I could see it mattering more if there was more drag/pull on the leader.

I set mine with the first hole to get them down as quick as possible.

I'm not sure I understand the theory behind that. What's the thinking on that ?
