    Default Floating jigs

Does anyone ever use floating jigs in the lake? I have used them in rivers for several years with good success. Thanks for any advice.

    Default Maybe?

I have used floaters on crawler harnesses to keep the rig from snagging debris on the bottom and keeping the bait in the strike zone when using bottom bouncers. You could use a similar technique I suppose in the spring when jigging. Perhaps a drops shot style rig?
I would tend to think the leader on the rig would have to be very short to keep it in the strike zone...(bottom 2 feet) as the Walleye are holding close to the bottom for the spawn.
Most are using a fairly heavy hair jig (1/2 - 3/4 oz) or a Cicada style bait, when jigging in the spring for walleye. This keeps the line to the jig tight so you can feel the strike.

Thanks for the reply rooster. I appreciate the input. I figured like you fishing them with a dropshot rig or a trolling sinker with a 2 or 3 foot leader. Tip em with a minnow, crawler, or some type of softbait. They are deadly in rivers fished as such and prevent a ton of snags. Im sure i will do some experimenting this spring. Cant wait to wet a line!

    Default Drift Sock

You will also need a drift sock. I imagine you already have or know about these but if not check with the fishing stores for the socks and the lines for them.

My suggestion would be to buy one twice the size recommended for your boat length.........if you don't have one already.

    Good Luck
