Hey gang I see more people are getting on here with influential ideas and I am loving it. All of your ideas are greatly appreciated and will be put into action. I have never been in retail or operated a bait shop before let alone owned one... so thank you all, I really want to make everyone feel welcome and have a part in it, honestly I want everyone to feel at home in there like this is their shop..so thank you all very much. As for the web site my brother is building it, hes a comp. wiz and well I know how to turn one on and find walleye.com that is about it... keep the ideas coming!
David
Hope ya'll don't mind the free coffee when you come in, only policy is you take last cup you make the next pot.. hope that is tolerable..
Dream catcher are you gonna put worms in bedding or dirt? Please say bedding

Hot Coffee? Always worth the drive. All change left for Coffee Fund
looks like guys are starting to get the itch to get out with all the chatter going on, sounds like you will be pretty busy come season and hopefully all season they way we are all baking dreamcatcher fishing bait and takle.sounds like your on your way to a good season dreamcatcher ill be up soon to spend some pennies and to scope the place out
I say we bag the 10% discount and pay full price until Bait Barn get's up and running in the black! I would hate to see it go away quickly!! 10% discount ain't gonna make or break any fisherman but might make a big difference in the bottom line for the Bait Barn. Just sayin'
I agree lets get this small business owner off to a good start financially. I know I dont go to bait shops for value. I choose my bait shops for quality in these areas (friendly atomsphere, lively bait, and great fishing reports). Cant wait for the fishing to begin...
Agree here too. Reliability, selection, availability, and a happy face at the counter will go a long way. Last couple years that happy has sometimes been missing in the mornings at the Happy place down the road. Course, poor weather, hard to get minnows, and the algae two years ago make it a tough time for anyone, so sure that is part of it. Best thing that would help all the bait shops would be a hatch this year like 2003 and another summer without an algae bloom. Best of luck.
Sounds like possible HEADQUARTERS if we where to organize and event for this forum. With radio traffic as helpful as it is on the lake giving exact locations if you are not catching fish it must be because you failed to report in or consult with the Mayor of Oak Harbor?
Hungry Hooker, that is correct possible HQ for events, I was checking out your profile photo, that's pretty sweet!, anyways out to the shop to finish some stuff up, this cold weathers go to go look forward to meeting the fine people on here!
Great news Dave best of luck it is all about having fun , fishing.I should not of mentioned radio traffic members sharing info can be very useful but respect the community that does it full time!I'm trying come up with something for our I-phones to share info with anybody got any APPS or info? All I have now is html document with MODIS,Web Cams,Reports,GPS numbers etc. that you can use on i-phones.
You got me lost on that one buddy, I'm more of the meat n potatoes guy, my brother is taking care of the website deal and trying to figure out how to stream the VHF traffic.
Wont be too long now fellas little update wiring was finished up this weekend along with POS system, license system and shelving. Waiting on my big orders to get in on March 1st and 2nd and well be trucking along. This weather is rough though just when ya think we are going to get a break we get slammed. Good news if anyone was wondering this wind has the Ice where it belongs "Ah". Please let me know if their are any items you all would want Ill have them in the store waiting for ya.
Lastly I would like thank you all for the support we hope to meet and exceed your expectations of customer service and be your ideal local bait shop, I truly hope this is a success.
I watched a You tube on fishing blade baits with a guy named captain Jay.He makes his own and sells them. They looked pretty good.I think he wholesales.I would rather buy them off of you.
Congrats on the business, i dont know if someone has said it or not but make sure you take advantage of the social networking sites that are available. Create a facebook page for you business and spread the word. You can offer contest for people that refer other people to your page and maybe give away a few jigs or something to the winner. This will also give people a place to post reports that will reach many people. When i make my trip to the western basin this year from pittsburgh i will be sure to stop in and say hi, plus the coffee lol
I agree on the coffee! I would be willing to pay a little more for good coffee too! lol
You should try a Facebook page as well. I will be at paradise acres and visiting you guys quite a bit. If you do a FB page post a link on here so we can find it. Good luck with the store!!
Hey gang just to let you know we will not be opening this weekend as planned my big order of stuff was scheduled to arrive this week got pushed back until the 12th, but no worries I will go pick it up on Friday so we can have the shop open for you when the ice clears, didn't see any sense in opening with ice on the lake anyway. When its fishable we will be open that's a promise. Thanks ladies and gents!
Any facebook page or website yet?
Heading east from oregon is your shop before or after the closing for bridge work untill May 25th
I will be stopping and checking the place out. I used the bait barn all the time, hope it's going to be as good. It sounds like it's going to be.
Hey Dave, will you be carrying Jays Blade Baits. Was going to order online but if you are going to carry I would get them from you when I open the trailer in a couple of weeks.
Hey gang check us out on facebook Dreamcatcher Fishing Bait Tackle finally took some photos of the shops progress I will post them shortly, as for Jays blade baits just contacted Captain Jay about his product I aim to place an order for them tomorrow, I was very impressed with them actually! I believe the shop is eat of the Darn Bridge, but I suppose that would depend what bridge your actually talking about.. I will check and defiantly get back with you on that one. Seasons almost here, not sure what I am more excited about, meeting all of you folks, the shop, or fishing see you soon keep the comments coming much appreciated...
Oh and I aim to be as good as any bait shop... with all the input from the fellas and ladies on here I better be!
Coffee preferences?? I'm a Maxwell house guy myself...
Fellas my wife reads this site I believe more than I do, she is a photographer, artist and graphic designer if anyone would like anything designed she would be happy to do that, FYI she did my logo and several others, she does some phenomenal photography plans on taking photos of ya'lls fish if you stop back by the shop after a good day, would like to put them on the website that is being created and frame some in black & white in the shop.
Lastly she will have certain things for the ladies in the shop as well like sugar scrub (not just for the ladys good for guys too but don't tell everyone) and jewelry and things to keep ya fellas that hit the lake everyday out of hot water with the Mrs.
Sorry lengthy just excited see ya soon!
Hey fellas website is up and running still under construction but its coming along.. check it out www.dreamcatcherfishing.com
Nice website. Looks like the store will be a sucess. Like the hours also. See you in a few weeks
Nice website.
With it being under construction, I am hesitant to bring this up and it may be because I am colorblind, but I find some of the links and text on your site to be VERY difficult to read with the very bright red background that is there. I like the red background though, very flashy! Maybe change the text color on the text that sits right against the background?
If I am alone on this, please just ignore me ;)
Looking forward to stoping and seeing the shop in a few weeks!
B can man
I must report from the web designer "my brother"
Let B CAN MAN know that unfortunately the issue of the site showing up Red is a compatibility issue with Internet Explorer 8. This web browser does not support HTML5 which is what our site was developed in. By selecting another web browser (such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or IE9) the website will appear cleaner and much more visually appealing.
Due to Internet Explorer 8 being an "outdated" browser in Microsoft's opinion they are no longer making enhancements to include HTML5.
Apologies for the error.
J
