    Default Sunday 10/21 Catawba Perch

Got to Catawba State Ramp just after 9 Sunday.
Good to meet Black Pearl and put a face to the name !

Water level was 3-4 feet behind the ramp, but less than 2 feet on either side.

The forecast of 1-3's was pretty close, with mostly 3's.
Just one buddy with me Sunday. Started about 1 mile NE of the firing range C can in 24 fow. Marked some fish here and there but couldn't get 'em going.
Moved SW and marked big pods of bait moving around, but still no action.
Ended up close to C can in 22 fow with about 10 other boats.

In about 30 minutes they started coming in spurts. Mostly 8-9's with several 10 & 11's. Used crappie rigs with 3 hooks, one flat on the bottom.
Just about all the fish came on the middle hooks OFF the bottom
Black Pearl. you should have stuck around !

Wind and waves settled down to about nothing late morning.
We could see a line of wind moving from the SW about 12:30. Just a little breeze, but when it got to us the air cooled down and the bite slowed big time.
Ended up the day at 3:00 with 41 perch, 12 lbs at the cleaners.

It was great to meet The Black Pearl, and it was great to get another day on the water before packing it in for the season !
