Yes I did, I took a 3/4" piece of marine ply wood about 20"x20"to back the inside of the transom then took 2 2x4s about 6 ft long and spanned them across the with of the transom and bolted them through the transom with big fender washers on the outside and 3"x3" steel plates on the inside of the transom the width of the bolt holes on the garlock bracket I used on the transom. Then I just bolted everything in place with stainless bolts and silicone. I bought a new rack steering cable that had 2 cables on it one to my rudders and 1 to the kicker motor. The only thing I regret doing is going with a 9.9 instead of a 15 hp. Its a lot of boat to push with a 9.9 hp. It works great, no more bags to deal with. I can troll in calm winds at .07mph and it will push the boat at 4.2 mph at wot.
