Saturday jigging was alittle slow thru most of the day. Pick one now and then, no great reports to go anyplace else. Rough conditions made it a tough day for 3 of the guys. One of the 3 boats in our group did put a couple big headed Fish Ohio class walleye in the box early afternoon. Sunday was a different story as it was a pretty steady bite all day. We kept working the areas near and on top of the reefs with jigs in almost any purple shade. Most fish taken with bare jigs as thats normal with the warmer water. We started to key on a couple certain spots and finished the day with a really nice box of fish. NE and East winds all weekend kept the muddy water on the inner reefs and the outer reefs had good water clearity. Seeing bait balls near the bottom also. Some fish showing up all over the screen, some suspended at 15-17 ft and most are on bottom. I did take one walleye on a gold weapon but it was near the bottom anyway. The big walleye seemed to turn on in the afternoon both days as #2 boat took 3 Fish O's and lost one right beside the boat with one of them being a 31incher and is in the freezer waiting for the taxidermy man. Sunday was a nice day on the lake but with 2 heads down we still did good. Monday (today) , well, East winds and woke up to lightning then rain and more to come. We waited till 7:30am and then decided that the lightning was too much and sent the guys home to Maryland.
Some males still milking, one of the big females still had some eggs.
Caught some yellow perch (males) as they are milking to.
White perch are easy to catch for those that want them also.
The next open date is Sunday May 20th and Monday on Memorial Day (28th).
Back at it next weekend.
