I believe from what I have been told, in Canada, which the Bass season is closed right now, you cannot even attempt to fish for them. I guess if you are using certain plugs or softcraws then they will just assume you are targeting Smallmouth.
I don't think it is that way in Ohio which is why everybody was so concerned about the Gobys getting to their eggs as the bass where pulled off of their spawning beds by fishermen catching and releasing. Who knew the bass where going to develop such a taste for Gobys.

Where I live in the central basin, once the water gets above 50F, I usually just troll near shore with small Hot-n-Tots, ShapRaps or Reef Runners. I seem to have the most action in 12 - 20 FOW.
Craig Burwell, the nitro resident pro at Bass Pro Rossford uses Dropshot all the time in Erie especially around Pele Island, once the season opens try the wagon wheel area off the west side of the island.....
