    Default Question about the Cans

I know this is a dumb question but I am still learning abou the Reef and CAN area.
What exactly do the cans represent? Are they marking certain underwater terrain or just deeper water for fishing/trolling?
The reefs are self-explanitory but the cans are still a mystery to me.

I fished B can for the first time last week with a friend (got 5 fish) and could not quite figure out what they are all about.

The cans mark out the area used for Camp Perry's firing range..Back in the day they used the range to test guns and explosives by firing them into the Lake.. I don't think they use them anymore.but don't quote me on that..Their supposta dip up the Beach to the right of Turtle Creek and look for unexploded rounds..According to our Neighborhood association..

They still fire small arms often and 50 cal. infrequently. There are some inner cans that mark the small arms range but when they fire the 50 cal stuff you are required to stay out farther. Here is a map that shows the inner and outer range, the inner range is the dash half circle line at the bottom of the purple boundry lines they start a Camp Perry.

I noticed some black flag markings last week around the general reef area. Any idea what they represent?
