    Default Algae bloom

I have been doing a little research about the algae bloom, each year it seems to get worse.
According to reports it ain't gonna be good next year.

    Any thoughts ??????

I have been fishing erie for just over 55 years now and can tell you that the algae around the islands used to be so thick each summer that you could not see a lure in the water more than 10 inches down.

Then along came the Zebra mussles, little vacumes that sucked up that algae . The lake cleared and we had to find new ways to fish this now crystal clear water.

Well IMO the zebras ate themselves out of business and now the algae is back. But also soon the remaining zebras will recover to a manageable level and the algae will go down again. It is the cycle of nature on this lake. If it is the same type of algae of the 50s and 60s. it will actually improve the fishing. in the western end. The central basin will again become some what of a dead zone with the loss of oxygen due to decomposing algae.

Just my thoughts on the issue.
