    Default 48 people fishing

Need some info/direction. An event organizer is asking for my input so I figured I would go to the best group of people who would know.

I am with a group that will have 48 people fishing this Friday on 8 boats. We will be fishing out of the catawba area. These are not my fishing grounds (I fish west of the reefs) so this is why I am posting this here. These are all charter boats with captains but it is the first time he has used this group.

In your opinion, which would be better? Walleye or perch fishing?

    Walleye
Are there any walleye biting in this area? Even consider Cedar Point area
If so, is it a trolling or casting bite?
Will the average person be able to catch fish if it is a casting bite?
What amount of fish could I expect after fishing?

    Perch
    Are the perch biting?
If so, how has the size been recently?
What amount of fish could I expect after fishing?

I am leaning toward going perch fishing so that everyone should have a good opportunity to catch fish.

    Your input is appreciated

Perch fishing has been good around the islands this year but the weather has put a hold on fishing the last week. The water conditions should be good for the end of the week.

    Default Perch/ Walleye

Best bet is to check with some reputable charters in area. Most will give you an idea of what or how the day before your event faired.

Fishing this time of year with weather unpredictable from day to day. However, this is the time of the year that perch and a bit better size 9"+ are caught throughout the island complex ... Walleye will start returning to Western reefs as well ...

Weather settling down if it stays this way should be some good perchin by the coming weekend... We had quite a blow though and need several days of a lay down..

Unless some charters tell ya the walleye are back I would suggest perching...
